I. Moses: A Man of Humility (Exodus 3:1–12)

  1. How is the "fear of failure" holding you back?
  2. How are you trusting in His presence in your life?
  3. How are you depending on the Lord for the hard tasks in your life?
  4. What do you believe about God and suffering?
  5. How can God use you to alleviate suffering in this world?
  6. For those of you who are reluctant in your calling like Moses, what are the excuses that you often give when asked to be on God's mission?
  7. How does it encourage you to hear God say, "I will be with you"?

Friday PM - July 3

II. Moses: A Man of Excuses (Exodus 4:1–17)

  1. Of the four questions — Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Who loves me? — which one is hardest for you to answer right now?
  2. Where does shame show up in your life that you have been confusing with conviction?
  3. What would change if you genuinely believed God was greater than your heart's condemnation?
  4. Who is someone in your life whose voice helps you hear truth instead of shame?
  5. When you try & fail at something, whose voice do you hear in your head? What does it say to you?
  6. Why does God provide Moses and the Israelites with all these signs (i.e. staff, hand and blood)?
  7. For those who believe you cannot speak well, how does the story of Moses' speech impediment encourage you?

Saturday AM - July 4

III. Moses: A Man of Courage (Exodus 5:1–2; 14:12–16)

  1. What do you do when things do not go as planned (i.e. mope, complain, get angry, etc.)?
  2. How does fear manifest itself in your life?
  3. How can you sometimes act like the Israelites when you are "cornered" (Exodus 14)?
  4. How can "fear make slavery look better than freedom" (14:12)?
  5. How can fear sometimes distort our memories (i.e. forget God's faithfulness in the past)?
  6. What is the "authority" we have as believers to speak or act on behalf of Christ?
  7. If you were to look at your life honestly, who are you most trying to please? (i.e. your parents, God, your own expectations for yourself)?

Saturday PM - July 4

IV. Moses: A Man of Prayer (Exodus 17:8–13; 32:9–14)

  1. Why do you think Israel prevailed when Moses put up his hands and they struggled when he lowered them?
  2. Who are the "Aarons and Hurs" in your life who strengthen and encourage you right now?
  3. In what areas of your life are you fighting a spiritual, mental, emotional or personal battle?
  4. What are the practical things we can do when our "strength is failing"?
  5. According to Exodus 32:9, Israel is described as a "stiff-necked people." In what ways can our stubbornness or resistance to God be present in our own hearts?
  6. Who in your life do you need to faithfully pray for daily?
  7. Considering you have experienced God's mercy, in return how should we treat others?

V. Moses: A Man of God's Presence (Exodus 33:12–23)

  1. What is your deepest desire(s) in life?
  2. In what areas of your life are you tempted to move forward without depending on God's direction and presence?
  3. Is there a difference between "knowing God's will" and "knowing God himself"?
  4. How have you experienced God's presence in your life this weekend?
  5. How do you desire to know and experience God more deeply?
  6. Five years from now, what does your most important relationship look like if you actually lived what you have heard this weekend?
  7. What is one practice/discipline you want to take home from this retreat, not as an obligation but as a gift?
